Zamar Music Exchange (ZME)  is a Non- Profit 501c3 educational and charitable foundation. It's purpose is to:

•Expose lower income youth aged 10-24 to the various Performing Arts genres and industries that they would not otherwise have access to, including providing opportunities to attend live staged performances and experience the offstage/ backstage support industries that enable them.

•Provide the performance, creative, and entrepreneurial skills necessary to succeed in any performing arts- related field, including how to sing, dance, or play an instrument as a soloist or with a group, learn to compose or choreograph original works, and how to produce, protect and promote their own or other's original works.

•Develop subsequent generations of arts advocates and educators by giving youths an opportunity to gain mentor and teaching experience while passing on their knowledge as Teaching Assistants in the program.

Our Vision

Our Vision is to build up the greater Washtenaw county arts community by providing  a facility and program that grants access to high quality performing arts education and business training in a community- based setting. We will give urban and rural area youths the opportunity to interact with successful musicians, composers, choreographers and producers who have come from similar backgrounds, and who have faced and overcome similar life challenges.   ZME graduates will become the next generations of arts entrepreneurs and educators to inspire lower income youth to reach with confidence for futures they once thought were unattainable.

Our Mission

1. To expose at- risk youth and young adults to career avenues they would not otherwise have access to in their surrounding communities.

2.To provide music and performing arts education and expand instruction through

partnerships with local and guest performing artists.

3. To expand high-quality, out-of-school time programs to reach more youth and remove

barriers to youth engagement and participation in performing arts related areas.

4. To develop a place to spur innovation, where youth can learn, perform, and create music and dance, and where performing artists and community leaders can work together to develop music and performing arts projects.

Our New Facility: The Zamar CPAC

The Zamar Music Exchange will be housed in a 15,000 square facility that is tailor- made with our program in mind.  Our youth will be fully immersed  in every aspect of the performing arts industry, from composing, to performance, to recording in the Center's state of the art recording studio, to learning how to produce and promote their own creative works.

The Zamar Community & Performing Arts Center, or CPAC for short, will not only be ZME’s home, but it will also function as a community hub for all ages. The Center will be a catalyst for community revitalization, bringing families and community members out for concerts, classes, movie nights, a rooftop community drum circle, and much, much more!

Becoming a Donor- Why should I help?

Help send a youth to College!

Donating to he sponsorship & scholarship fund means you may encourage a younger participant through our aspiring artist helps scholarship, or be help a youth to pay for their tuition, room and board at a higher learning institution through our Advanced Artist Scholars program!

Sponsor a youth's competitive experience!

You donations  to the Scholars & sponsorship fund could also help cover the cost of a youth's registration in a local or district competition- may of which could earn them monetary or other awards significant to their performing arts careers.

Give a youth more hands- on experiences!

Our youth excursions take the youth to see staged productions at local venues such as the Detroit Opera House, the Fox Theater, Fisher Theater and more!

You'll help keep the program going!

The lessons are free, but unfortunately, the teachers are not! There are many operating costs such as teacher salaries and monthly utility bills for our 15,000 square foot facility that keeps us on our financial toes. You can donate directly to our operational fund to help ZME to provide free instruction for years to come!
